Why are relationships with men so difficult?

I am female, and my experience in relationships is that there always seems to be a power struggle, and that men don't seem to be very good at treating women with respect (but expect it themselves). I would rather be on my own rather than put up with this, but I also hate being on my own. Why do I have to pay a high price for my self-respect (single status) or 'love' (non-equal status)? Why is it too much to expect both?

    I hear many women complain of this. The desire a powerful man that will not always over-power them. Find a mature man. Most men still act like they are still going through the terrible twos. Don’t comprise your self-respect. Believe for the best. It is yours!

    You will have to go for guys whose self-esteem is not tied into such pathetic, primitive things as dominating a woman. These guys will likely not fit into the typical mold you go for now.
